RE: New Public Washroom Installation on Lansdowne Street West to Enhance Community Amenities

Callander, Ontario – The Municipality of Callander is excited to announce the installation of a new full automated public washroom facility on Lansdowne Street West, conveniently located near the boat launch and docks. This facility aims to provide essential amenities for residents and visitors alike, enhancing the overall experience of our beautiful waterfront and downtown area.
The installation will be carried out by Urben Blu, a leader in smart, self-cleaning public restrooms across North America. Their innovative designs prioritize cleanliness, safety, and ease of maintenance, ensuring that the facility remains in excellent condition for all users. The washroom will be equipped with advanced features, including automated cleaning cycles and vandal-resistant materials, making it a reliable addition to our community.
Mayor Noon expressed enthusiasm about the project, stating, “This new washroom facility is a significant step forward in improving our public amenities. It will not only serve our residents but also enhance the experience for tourists enjoying our waterfront. We are committed to providing clean and accessible facilities that reflect the values of our community.”
The washroom installation is part of a broader initiative to improve public spaces in Callander, making them more welcoming and user-friendly. Open year-round, this facility will be particularly beneficial for families and outdoor enthusiasts who frequent the area, in both winter and summer. Mayor Noon continues: “We are so grateful for the provincial contribution of 75% funding from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund Corporation (NOHFC) that was received late last year for this project. A special thanks to Vic and the Board for their support in moving our vision along, with minimal impact to our taxpayers.”
The delivery and installation of the unit is expected to take place from November 19-21. A grand opening and reveal, including ribbon cutting will take place on November 21 at 11:30 a.m. We invite the media and those interested to attend.
