SIRENS IN THE PARK HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO SATURDAY SEPTEMBER 7TH 2024

Posted August 16th 2024 @ 12:45pm

We regret to inform you that due to the unfavorable weather forecast, we have made the difficult decision to postpone Sirens in the Park, originally scheduled for this Saturday, to September 7, 2024.

The weather forecast predicts rain starting Friday night and continuing throughout Saturday. Such conditions would saturate the park grounds, making it impractical to set up and operate our heavy fire apparatus in the park. Additionally, the bouncy castles we have planned cannot be used in the rain, and our “Movie in the Park” event would be rendered impractical under these conditions.

Both the bouncy castles and the movie are significant investments, and we want to ensure that they can be enjoyed to the fullest. Furthermore, we are concerned that the rain will negatively impact turnout, which would be disappointing for everyone involved.

We also want to acknowledge the generous support we’ve received from many businesses in Callander and the surrounding area. Given the forecast, we believe it would be a poor use of the sponsorship funds provided to the fire department to proceed with the event under these circumstances.

We apologize for any inconvenience this postponement may cause and appreciate your understanding. We look forward to hosting a fantastic Sirens in the Park on Saturday, September 7th, with the weather hopefully cooperating for a great community event.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,
Todd Daley,

Fire Chief, CEMC
Callander Fire & Emergency Services
