Notice of Public Meeting Concerning An Official Plan and Zoning By-law Housekeeping Amendment in the Municipality of Callander

 

 

TAKE NOTICE:  that the Municipality of Callander has requested for an Official Plan and Zoning By-law Amendment in accordance with Section 21 of the Planning Act and; 

 

TAKE NOTICE: that the Municipality of Callander will hold a statutory Public Meeting under Section 17(15) and 34(10.1) of the Planning Act, R.S.O. 1990, C.P.13 (as amended) on

 

Tuesday April 23rd, 2024 At 6:30 p.m.

 

THE PURPOSE of this public meeting is to provide an opportunity for public comments on the proposed Official Plan and Zoning By-law Housekeeping Amendment.

 

Meetings can be attended in person or by electronic participation. Council Meetings are livestreamed. The livestream will be available through our meeting portal and YouTube. Instructions for watching the live stream will be posted with the meeting agenda at https://callander.civicweb.net/Portal/.  Should you wish to present any comments, concerns, or objections virtually, you must contact the Planning Administrator at tcraig@callander.ca to register no later than 1:00 pm of the day of the meeting. Presenters will be provided with instructions on how to join the meeting in advance. You may also submit written comments at this e-mail address which may be read at the Meeting for the record. All comments must be provided by 1:00 pm of the day of the meeting.

 

PURPOSE AND EFFECT – The Municipality is aiming to maintain consistency with the:

  • direction from the province, to reduce red tape associated with development and create more housing opportunities, and
  • Official Plan, which also has recently been amended to align with provincial objectives.

 

The Municipality is proposing to amend policy sections 5.0 Rural Designation and 7.0 Land Division of the Official Plan to reduce the suggested rural lot frontage from 100 metres to 60 metres.

 

Further, the Municipality is proposing to amend the minimum frontage in the “Rural (RU)” Zone from, which is consistent with the neighbouring municipalities. The interior side yard setback shall also be amended to be reduced from 15 meters to 8 meters.

 

ANY PERSON OR AGENCY may attend the public meeting in-person or virtually by request and/or make written or verbal representations either in support of or in opposition of the Official Plan and Zoning By-law Housekeeping Amendment.       

If a person or public body has grounds to appeal the decision of the Council of the Municipality of Callander to the Ontario Land Tribunal but the person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality of Callander before the resolution is passed, the person or public body is not entitled to appeal the decision.

If a person or public body does not make oral submissions at a public meeting or make written submissions to the Municipality of Callander before the resolution is passed, the person or public body may not be added as a party to the hearing of an appeal before the Ontario Land Tribunal unless, in the opinion of the Board, there are reasonable grounds to do so.

 

Notice of Collection of Personal Information – Personal information collected and recorded at the Public Participation Meeting, or through written submissions on this subject, is collected under the authority of the Municipal Act, 2001, as amended, and the Planning Act, 1990 R.S.O. 1990, c.P.13 and will be used by Members of Council and staff in their consideration of this matter. The written submissions, including names and contact information and the associated reports arising from the public participation process, will be made available to the public, including publishing on the Municipality’s website. Video recordings of the Public Meeting will also be live streamed on the Municipality of Callander’s website.
