NEW Carbon Monoxide Alarm Rules

Effective JANUARY 1 2026

Ontario’s Fire Code now requires CO alarms on EVERY floor and near ALL sleeping areas in homes with fuel-burning appliances, attached garages, or heating from a fuel-burning source.

Multi-unit buildings and care facilities must also comply.

Use CSA, ULC, or ETL certified alarms.
