Join the Committee of Adjustment
The Municipality of Callander is looking for one community member to join the Committee of Adjustment.
This committee makes decisions on planning matters such as minor variances, consents, easements, and some legal non‑conforming uses.
What the Committee Does
The Committee:
Reviews applications from property owners
Holds public hearings
Makes decisions based on the Planning Act, the Official Plan, and the Zoning By-law
Who We’re Looking For
You must:
Live in Callander, own property here, or be a tenant
Be at least 18 years old
Be fair, open‑minded, and able to review planning information
Be available to attend meetings when needed
It helps if you have some understanding of planning or development, but it’s not required.
Your Responsibilities
Committee members are expected to:
Read meeting materials before each meeting
Take part in discussions and decision‑making
Follow the Municipality’s policies, including conflict of interest rules
Maintain confidentiality when needed
