Generator and Heating Safety During an Outage

Posted Feb 4th 2026

⚠️ If using backup heat or generators during an outage:
• Use generators outdoors only, away from windows/doors
• Let generators cool before refuelling; store fuel outside in approved containers
• Use indoor‑rated space heaters only
• Never use barbecues or propane/charcoal heaters indoors

Safe heating prevents fires and carbon monoxide hazards.
