⚠️ Where Flooding Is Occurring or Expected
💧 What’s Happening
- April has seen more than double the normal rainfall, along with rapid snowmelt.
- Water levels in rivers and lakes rose quickly and, while some areas are starting to slowly recede, Lake Nipissing continues to rise.
- Lake levels are expected to reach flood levels in the next few days and may be similar to the 2019 flooding in the coming weeks.
- Lake ice combined with high water increases the risk of shoreline erosion and damage.
🚧 Closures and Operations
- Corbeil Conservation Area and Mattawa Island Conservation Area remain closed due to flooding.
- Eva Wardlaw Conservation Area is also closed while flood control operations are underway.
- The Parks Creek backflood control structure is being actively operated to reduce flood risk in nearby neighbourhoods.
👷 What Residents Should Do
- Residents in low‑lying or flood‑prone areas should closely monitor conditions.
- Be prepared for potential flooding, shoreline damage, and local disruptions.
- Keep children and pets away from rivers, streams, and lake edges — water is cold, fast-moving, and banks are slippery.
- Avoid flooded areas and respect all closures and warnings.
- If you need help during a flood emergency, contact your municipality.
- If you live in an unorganized area, contact the Ministry of Natural Resources – North Bay District.
