For over 20 years, Hal has been an incredible part of our volunteer team here in Callander. His dedication, knowledge, and enthusiasm have supported countless municipal events and community initiatives.
One event where Hal truly shines is Cranberry Day. As our resident cranberry bog expert, he brings the experience to life each year—sharing cranberry picking tips, educating visitors about the bog, and helping make this much loved tradition possible.
But Hal’s contributions reach far beyond our events.
🌳 A Key Leader in Community Tree Planting
Hal played an integral role in a major tree planting initiative led by the Implementation and Beautification Committee, who are currently seeking a new member. This important project resulted in approximately 60+ new trees being planted across the community, including:
• Centennial Park
• M.T. Davidson and St. Theresa
• The Royal Canadian Legion
• The Cenotaph
• The South Shore Community Centre
• The Community Centre & Bill Barber Complex
• The Callander Museum
• Sunset Beach
This initiative was forward thinking—designed to strengthen Callander’s future tree canopy in anticipation of potential losses from storms and disease. Many of the new plantings were native Red Maples, proudly recognized as Callander’s official tree.
Hal’s long-term commitment has made a lasting impact on our community spaces, our environment, and the events we share together. We’re deeply grateful for all he continues to contribute. 👏
